Some of the earliest toys made by Lesney were the Prime Mover, Low loader trailer and the bulldozer. The prime mover was loosely based on the post-war Scammell 6x6. The toy is 5" long and is all metal with the wheels being hollow and open on the inside. There is a driver figure and there are two re-moveable engine covers. The words "BRITISH ROAD SERVICES" are cast on both sides of the cab and "No 37 Max 20 mph" on both sides of the rear body. I have only seen it in the one colour scheme - orange body, including the driver figure, green engine covers,. grey wheels and white high-lighting on the words on the cab, with some gold trim on the petrol tanks. There is no base plate and no makers name.

The low loader trailer is 7.5" long (with the tow-bar folded up), is all metal and has two loose ramps which can be put at the end of the trailer when 'loading' the bulldozer. The words "A LESNEY-MOKO TOY" and "MADE IN ENGLAND" are cast on the underneath. It is painted light blue except for the tow-bar which is natural metal and the wheels which are grey.

The bulldozer is slightly smaller than the Dinky version and comes in a variety of colours There appear to be two versions - one has a lever on the left-hand side to raise and lower the blade while the other version has no lever. Some are also marked with the words "LESNEY-MOKO MADE IN ENGLAND" on the inside of the blade.

This one has the lever.

This one has no lever but has the makers name on the inside of the blade.

It makes an impressive combination when all three are put together.

Further to the previous posting there was an article about this particular Lesny-Moko model in Issue no.23, September 1999, of the magazine "Diecast Collector". The author, Robert Newson, revealed the existence of a rare, if not unique, clockwork version of this model which he had discovered.

This Lesney-Moko prime-mover, bulldozer and trailer in an unusual grey colour, together with the original box including the insert, were sold in a recent Vectis auction for 1400 pounds!!
