Hello all, what are members' opinions on eBay item# 3551415370 purporting to be one of these vvnm it seems too good to be true to me. The same seller has an interesting Meccano Engineering van, item# 3551414488 which seems to be a hybrid or 30 series bits. Was this something DGM produced? Neither of these are listed as being repros or restorations. Regards Peter

The 28/1 HORNBY TRAINS van looks like a Steve Flowers white metal "car kit" to me; available with either rubber tyres or with all metal wheels. Heaven knows what the MECCANO ENGINEERING van is supposed to be. I've never seen or heard of a Dinky closed van with the ambulance type body and Bentley grille. It may well be a DGM product (I have no knowledge of those things). I noticed last evening the same seller is also offering a near-mint "pre-War" 280 KODAK van that seemingly just happens to have post-1946 ridged wheels.

And what is his two-colour "rare 24b" with the peculiar grille and sidelamps on the front mudguards? I won't bother going into his other offerings.

But buyer beware, as eBay keep reminding us. Sadly, it's the uninitiated who are likely to be misled.

Amazingly this van has just sold for £215, and the Meccano Engineering van sold for £181. The seller sent me pictures of the underneaths of these. The Meccano Van had a post-war 30/36 series baseplate by the look of it. The 28/1 van looked brand new with brand new axles etc. Does anyone know if Steve Flowers marks these in any way to distinguis from the originals, or are we relying on 70 years of age to take off that brand new appearance?
