I do hope that all Members and Guest's have had a very Merry Christmas and are enjoying the New Year. As always I welcome any visit from any of our Members should you be visiting the UK. Myself and Sally (my better half) had a visit from Jacques on the 28th of December which was very enjoyable.Needless to say Jacques left me with a list of "To do's" regarding the Club which I plan to implement as soon as time permits. We both had a lot of fun talking about the Club, our models and life in general. I had a personal demonstration of his CD disk of Information and photographs of Dinky Toys and related model information which i have to say the contents is most impresive. Both Jacques and I agree that many aspects of the real important detail about variations in models etc can only be explained by a series of photographs side by side showing these differences.I for one found Jacques pictures of the variations on the front of the Karmann Ghia pictured downwards on the front bumper a very interesting point to look out for with this model. Maybe Jacques would post an example of these photographs to illustrate the point in the correct thread. I hope to see Jacques again some time in the summer of 2005 for another visit! Maybe we could have a few more of us here for a beer and a chat? Kindest Regards and a very Happy New Year to you all. Nigel Pearson

It was very Nice to meet Sally and Nigel last week. The time passed very quickly and we did not have time to talk about everything I wanted to. I am looking forward to my next visit to England in the second half of august and find Nigel's idea to meet several members excellent. I see that Nigel has already made some nice modifications to the site during the long english winter evenings. As he asked, I have posted the picture of the variation of the VW Karmann at 24m french Dinkies and 187 english Dinkies. This is one of the many pictures from the Dinky CD which explains variations without long messy texts. Happy new year to all the club members. Bonne année à tous les membres du club. Dear all, This weekend I had the privilege and pleasure to visit the DinkyCD HQ and its creator, the moderator of our club list, somewhere (in the middle of nowhere) in a rural place in France.
Here is the heart of the up till now secret DinkyCD HQ bunker, well protected against enemy attacks, within sturdy centuries-old walls.
As it is hard to believe what displays Jacques Dujardin has created, I thought it needed a check – he might have made some photoshop tricks in order to make things more impressive than they are in reality.
But now I can confirm from own observations that his achievements are really impressive. In order to understand the making of all this, you must have seen his endless piles of wood in the barn (oak, birch, etc.), his fantastic woodworking equipment, and his own skills and handiness in the field.
His displays are really professionally made, with the finest wood joints, superbly working drawers, and critically finished details. As I am very critical on my display cabinets myself, I am always inspecting the way models (and whatever interesting) are displayed by other enthusiasts.
So I almost forgot to admire the collection on display, which is not too bad.
I was generously allowed to photograph some specialties on display, for my own documentation, but also some impressions for you all included, like this amazing mock up of the no. 24b Peugeot 403.
Some Dinkies are to be found at scale 1:1, especially some agricultural accessories, indispensable for the type of garden Jacques has to maintain, like a true no. 105a and a true no. 27a. Another recommendation for all Dinky enthusiasts on this site to not only meet each other virtually, but also in person! Kind regards, Jan Werner

Jacques Hammel right and Jacques Dujardin left. After the great visit of Jan Werner here in September, I was honored to have the visit of Mr. and Mrs. Jacques Hammel as well as Jacques's father. You better believe that Dinky discussions lasted until very late at night and that many models came out of the cabinets for close examination. An other visit is already planed, this will be David Cooke and David Dawson respectively President and Vice President of the Dinky Toys Collectors Association of which I am member n° 100. The Dinky TCA produces a very interesting magazine every second month. You may have noticed that I have changed the title of this thread so that every member can write about their meetings with other members. I am looking forward to the visit of many other Dinky fans here. |

Words cannot describe it all: Jacques D's manor, its surroundings, the Dinky and Solido Collections are all breathtaking, not to mention Jacques' kindness in hosting my 89 years old father - a still young Dinky Toys enthusiast - my wife and myself for an overnight most memorable stay. Jacques is a very talented carpenter and gardener in addition of being a walking Encyclopedia about most everything... From left to right : Jacques Dujardin - David Cooke - David Dawson. Last sunday, David Cooke President of DiTCA and David Dawson vice president of the same club visited me here. I already knew David Cooke having past a very nice day together at the Bressingham museum in the summer of 2005. The three of us spent a nice afternoon looking at the cars and talking about them. They both have a great knowledge in Dinkys. I promised to return the visit during my next trip to England. This will probably be on the occasion of the 75 th. anniversary of the Dinky Toys brand when an exibition and a dinner will be held in about one year from now. During that trip I hope that I will also be able to visit some members of this great club.

By the end of September,my 89 years old father Hugo - a Dinky and Hornby fan - my wife Dina and myself spent an unforgetable day with the Pearson's and the Law's. We can see Nigel and myself in front of Nigel's home, then Sally,Dina,Jacques, Ian, Hugo and Christine. Around the table, Hugo is telling Dinky tales from the early 30's...

A couple of weeks later we crossed back to France and visited with Jacques D., in his historical mansion, beautifully located on the top of a hill with wonderful surroundings and deers roaming freely nearby...As can be felt through the pictures, Dinkies were the order of the day, and even the drawers with their hidden treasures where not left untouched!!! Jacques is a tremendous person as a host, as a living encyclopedia about most everything, and last but not least , as a very gifted handyman.

Milk float Dinky Toys ref. 490 & 491 I am just back from a trip to England where I have visited some Dinky Toys collectors. I did not do all the drive to Norfolk and York in the dairy van shown above or the Fraser Nash BMW below. Unfortunately, no pictures were taken of these meeting but I would like to thank John King, David Cooke, David Busfield and Nigel for puting up with me, showing me some extraordinary pieces like a unique metal prototype of an Angel's Interceptor from the Gerry Anderson series and some printing plates which had been posted from Liverpool to a printer in London and the parcels had never been opened until June 24, 2007. During this trip, I have taken apart from the many showers on the road, many pictures which will soon be added to the Dinky Toys encyclopeadia.

Argentine Dinky planet. During November we were delighted with the visit to Buenos Aires of Michel and Dyane Cousineau Dinky Toys collectors from Montreal, Canada. We assist them visiting some collections of DT as well tin and the universe of auto miniature modells. The hostess were Gustavo Santarelli, Luis Rossi and Eduardo Ramirez Calonge who own historic background. We deeply enjoy their visit and we spent good time at the Argentine meat table. (See pictures). Resides I wish to reiterate to all DTUK members will be very welcomed visiting our town, collections and meanwhile tastes good wine and meat. Regards Hector Luis Spinelli |

Last december 15th, ACAMRA (Asociación Coleccionistas Automodelos Argentine Republic). Argentine Automodelist and Collectors Asociation, celebrate its ten years of existence (1998-2008). On this meeting Mr Jimmy Macadam was surprisingly introduced in behalf of his grandfather Mr Joseph Francis MACADAM who died in 1959 at 100 years old. But who was in particular Mr Joseph Macadam ?. JFMacadam or <joe> was born in 1859 at Liverpool, UK, where personnally knew Mr Frank Hornby. JFM started his adventurous journey to southamerica arriving to Brazil in 1878 where he started his activities, continuining in Uruguay and later on in Buenos Aires Argentine where in 1882 he established a broad merchant activity in several disciplines. Besides this activities and due to his close contact with Mr Frank Hornby he became a dealer of Hornby for all the Meccano line of products. In that moment, the Argentine market for the toys and Hornby products was enormous, it meant one of the great Hornby representation outside the UK. Completing this very interesting story, one of JFMacadam´s ascendent was Cromwell officer in 1641 and also his wife María Hughes & Browne descended from Luis Vernet first Governor of the Malvinas Islands (Southern Argentine) in1833. Joseph Francis Macadam arrived in Buenos Aires at 1882, he was President of the local British Chamber of Commerce in 1918. Main Dinky Toys collectors in Argentina as Luis Rossi, Gustavo Santarelli, Jaime Martinez, Hector Spinelli and Eduardo Ramirez Calonge were strongly moved by such a presence.

Jacques Well in fact the person we met is the grandson of Mr JFMacadam. His biography was investigated according related information. Frankly speaking we ignore who was the Argentine representation of Mr Frank Hornby on that moment. Speaking with this person we discovered it. This fact would be the issue. Regards Hector |

Yep - I guess that I am a little farther than Tom also. Concord California to London, then to Paris for the 75th anniversary. That distance adds about 2900 miles (West Coast to East Coast of USA). My wife and I visited the 2 Dinky Toy stores in Paris area (1 closed, 1 open - thanks to Jacques to identify them and their locations). I wanted to buy a couple of Dinky Toys at the open store but they took cash only and I did not have the appropriate amount. I researched some toy shows/swap meets in UK while we were there but did not have the time to travel to the shows. We had a great time in Derby, London, and Paris. We may make it again in another year or two. Bob |

Dear Jacques, Kinderdijk in its original setting in the mid 19th century below:
The man in yellow is Jos van Blokland, our Dinky army vehicles and catalogues expert, both of which he has huge, high quality collections. I cannot recall that strange-man-in-black's name exactly. He was stalking us all the way for some reason and talked some Spanish kind of American. Kind regards, Jan Werner |

Just serious now: of course this is our great American friend and Dinky connoisseur José Heraud. We had a lovely weekend around 2-3 July. José and Nancy were staying with Jos, and together they spent most of the Saturday and Sunday with us, near Amsterdam, with a Dutch DTCA get together on the Saturday afternoon. The group was limited this because of many holiday season apologies but even Dave Busfield came over and some Dutch guests, among them John Beugels, who showed an incredibly 'new' Silver Jubilee train set in pristine box. So, limited, but so very pleasant! We made a candle light tour through the canals of Amsterdam on Saturday night (photo 1) and on Sunday we crossed the Noord-Holland polder landscape (photo 2) and the old Zuyderzee town of Enkhuizen. After having stayed with Jos and after a visit to John's collection they continued their journey, into France. Kind regards, Jan Werner |

Jacques topics - well lets see. I have only a "small" collection of our favorite topic. I guess that we could discuss or play with my Meccano set, or my Lionel train set, or my record collection (45s and 78s). I have sold most of my books but they were recent best sellers. My grandson who is 9 has a very small collection of miscellaneous toy vehicles (stored at my house). We could also see my son's VW Toy collection (more models than I have Dinky Toys) or his pre-1965 VW cars (number change with regularity). I think that he still has his comic book collection and my grandson is starting to create his comic book collection. So I guess that we would not be lost for topics. |
